Membership Options

FSLA offers several membership categories designed to meet the needs of organizations across the surplus lines industry.

Regular Membership

A Regular Member is any person, firm or corporation engaged in an insurance agency business, the organization of which includes at least one individual licensed as a surplus lines agent pursuant to the Florida Surplus Lines Law, Section 626.913-626.937, F.S., and has a permanent office located within the State of Florida. The membership fee for a Regular Member is $1,500.

Branch Membership

A Branch Member is any person, firm or corporation engaged in an insurance agency business, the organization of which includes at least one individual licensed as a surplus lines agent pursuant to the Florida Surplus Lines Law, Section 626.913-626.937, F.S., who is a subsidiary of or a branch office of a Regular Member and has a permanent office located within the state of Florida. The membership fee per Branch office is $500.

Non-Resident Membership

A Non-Resident Member is any person, firm or corporation engaged in an insurance agency business, the organization of which includes at least one individual licensed as a non-resident surplus lines agent pursuant to the Florida Surplus Lines Law, Section 626.913-626.937, F.S., and does not maintain either residency or an office in the state of Florida. The membership fee for a Non-Resident Member is $500.

Association Membership

An Associate Member is any individual, firm, or organization that is not an insurance agency or company, but who supplies services to Regular Members and supports the excess/surplus lines insurance industry. The membership fee for a Industry Associate Member is $1,250.

Insurance Company Membership

An Insurance Company Member is any risk-bearing insurer engaged in the writing of insurance in the state of Florida on a surplus lines basis. For the purpose of qualifying for this class of membership, an underwriting management firm may be accepted if it has specific underwriting authority or is part of a corporate group which includes an insurance company writing in the state of Florida on a surplus lines basis. The membership fee for a Insurance Company Member is $1,750.

Retail Agency Membership

A Retail Agency Member is any person, firm, or corporation engaged in an independent insurance agency business who derives a majority of their revenues from retail insurance sales with a valid Florida resident license (2-20 license) issued by the Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS). The introductory membership fee for a Retail Agency Member is $500.

Political action committees promote the welfare of the Florida Surplus Lines agent by helping elect those candidates who support the wholesale system and related issues. As a contributing member, you help achieve that goal. Any individual or company may contribute any amount.
